yet another celebration . .

I know, I know, how many times do we celebrate father's day??

Well I guess it's just a pure blessing to have such great men in this family.   I only hope and pray that you, Jack, will be a strong man with a gentle heart like all the other guys in the family.   Last Monday, we went to dinner to celebrate father's day with Richard's dad, Jack's Papaw.

We also were able to celebrate Nana's birthday, seeing as how it was only a few days away!

It was an evening with lots of smiles :)  Another happy father's day for Papaw and a very happy birthday for  Nana!

a play date or two :)

a little play date or two...

A few weeks ago while Richard was out of town for work, my sweet friend Nadia and her precious girls came over to play.

Let's just say the kids weren't the only ones who got to play!

While the little ones took turns napping
(literally they all napped at different times of the day)

Nadia showed me how to make a fun, easy, and always messy

Enchilada recipe!

They were all kinds of yummy!

I couldn't stop taking pictures of sweet, sweet Sienna Rose!
We had such a great time together, but the feeling was mutual, we needed to do it more often.

Luckily, my sister Dana wanted a chance at learning how to make these yummy enchiladas!  It was also a good excuse to bite the bullet and have our belated birthday slumber party. :)

So last Thursday, we loaded up the car to head to Aunt Dana's house.   It's a good napping distance away from our house. :)

We had lots of food on this menu.  Meaty Quesadillas as an appetizer and Cheese Enchiladas for the main dish.

Dana made the yummy drinks :)

"Fancy seeing you again"

Evy and Joshua had a much needed play time together too!  They were so cute!

A great spread indeed!

Then it was upstairs for the real party . . .

What's a sleep over without awesome slippers?!?

Jack, I absolutely love seeing you with your older cousins, you observe their every move so closely!  Keeping up with them kept you busy!

We all had a great time together!
We stayed up a little bit past our bed time, but hey that's what makes the best memories right?!?

the little adventures of Jack

hey cutie...

You have had quite the accomplishments this week and kept your parents super busy.  So as you sleep tonight I will document all your latest moves :)

Ohhh the coffee table...  Your squeal of excitement sounds like you have climbed Mount Everest.   As I watch every move, I fear your fall on one of the corners of the table.  So far we've done well.  Your diapers provide a wonderful cushion.

After I have pulled out every interesting toy for the day, you my little man, have discovered that there are way more toys hiding in that basket in the corner.

You are eating dinner with us!  Well you always have been eating with us.  But now your little taste buds are getting a little more familiar with what we like to eat.  You ate tacos for the first time this week!

We think you liked it.  Although this picture looked like you also had a margarita or two with us.

At our lunches I'm working on having you try to feed yourself.  You still prefer me to feed you everything.  Although this week you have learned to pick up a few puffs, peas, taco meat and well we are working on this fruit package.
The first time I gave it to you you leaned in with no hands.  You eventually learned that you probably should pick it up in order for it to work.

So what you have in store for the next week or so  I am anxiously awaiting.  Tonight you were standing up next to the coffee table starring at me and slowly made your attempt to turn around and stand by yourself.  Your eyes squeezed shut in case of a fall.  But I caught you.  Something tells me, even though it took you a while to crawl... you are going to be an adventurous little man.

buddy has good taste ...

Growing up as the baby of the family (youngest of five),  I always had to hear the stories of how I wanted to be just like my older siblings and have everything that they had.

Anytime my siblings wanted "I C E C R E A M"  I was known to say "I want ' A B C ' too!!"
I once was sitting on the bathroom vanity and looked at my teenage brother in the bathroom mirror and said "I can't wait till I'm older and can have zits like you."
And it was apparently one of our first visits to my hometown of Sealy, before I could even walk, my family got treats at the local Sonic drive in.  I was told I screamed the entire time my family tried to convince me that I had a Sonic treat in my bottle when I in fact did not.
I'm really not surprised I did that.   I mean what's a Sonic drink with out the big cup and the noisy straw?!?

So now this brings me to one of your accomplishments for the week Buddy.
You have learned how to sip out of a straw!

And from none other than a big Sonic drink with that loud straw.   You my sweet boy were quite proud of yourself.  You also were amazed at it's size and the fact that I was actually letting you try it out.

Love you little man and all of your accomplishments these days :)

little man is napping.

So I finally get the chance to post.  Although I don't have much to say,  I just want to share these pictures.

Jack you are climbing up on everything lately.  You think you are Mr. Big.

Though some people think you are big in size for your age.  I've got to remember to keep telling myself enjoy this time because it's at this time that you will only be this little.

You are just beginning to climb on anything and everything, and  I just don't think this mama is ready for all the bumps, scrapes and bruises that come with having a little boy.  For now I will just keep snapping pictures and loving on that sweet soft skin of yours.

 love you little man.

birthday, week and weekend... let's just keep celebrating :)

this little stinker...

has been hard at work.  and rather mischievous at getting me a birthday gift.

he kept telling me he just wanted to take me to dinner.  i gladly accepted the treat at lupe tortillas knowing i really didn't want any gifts.   i'd rather save the money up for a new camera.  because well let's be honest it's all i've been rambling to him about since i think.... last summer?!?
but most recently our camera that has been doing a pretty decent job has decided to lose some of it's functions. : /

after a nice birthday dinner thursday evening, he went on to tell me his creative gift (which was nothing big...he added)  was going to be coming in a day late.
after coming home from my sister's pool friday i found a camera sitting on our bed with a yellow sticky note.

"happy birthday"

i was speechless.  well actually i squealed.

and since then i haven't stopped clicking.

here is some fun i've been having with the new toy.

after a full day of swimming and a full nights sleep ...

this is how i found buddy saturday morning.

saturday afternoon we went out to brazos country to celebrate my birthday with my parents, before my mom goes back up to missouri for grand-baby number sixteen :)

my sister and i can bother each other about our new toys.

dana and i decided, since one sister is currently on vacation on  a  beautiful beach and the other sister is stuck in missouri feeling huge and about to have a baby ...

it was only right that we toast a drink  to them at sunset.

brazos country style.

we thought this was pretty post card material.

memorial day and more!

lets catch up with our long weekend that daddy actually had off and what a good daddy he is.
he took you on your first trip to home depot while while mama stayed home and cleaned.

you both survived!  you slept the entire time while daddy pushed a very heavy cart.
on memorial day we had both families over and lots of left overs.  it was fun filled and delicious.
and after that long weekend, i think daddy needed another weekend. :)

you would think a trip to the hardware store with daddy was a pretty big deal.   but we couldn't stop there.  later that week you had your first trip to the zoo with our good friends from our familia group.

it was a very warm day with our little friends.

we spent a good time in the air condition to keep you happy.

you enjoyed the fishes and the chipmunks but you didn't show much reaction to feeding the giraffe.

but i think you are quite fond of your giraffes.
