our little guys' rooms

so we have been transitioning the last few months.  jack is sleeping in his big boy bed while his crib has been moved over for brother sam.   i was so scared to take the plunge.  i took advice from all sides but ultimately my anxiousness to decorate both rooms took over.  and boom.   jack got kicked out of his bed before he could even climb out.   i know it sounds mean.  however, i think with jack's passive personality, who knows how long it would have been before he started climbing out?!

jack, you have done great with sleeping in your twin bed.   you have gotten out a few times in the middle of the night, but there is usually a good excuse.  either you took too long of a nap during the day, or a rainstorm woke you up, which even i would get out of my bed for.  with 4-5 weeks before your brother gets here, we are working hard on having you fall asleep on your own at night.  it might be our only struggle.  you have resorted to begging us to just "it down!" by your bed till you fall asleep.

your room was fun to change up.  we kept a lot of what was in your nursery. we just rearranged some items and added a few pictures.  of course it was fun to get your big boy bedding!  the store wouldn't stop sending me coupons and i couldn't resist.  i think it will grow well with you.  somehow you ended up with mostly a baseball theme. :)  i think you are happy about it.

without a real playroom in our house, you have quite a few toys in your room.  most of them are tucked away but you know just how to get them out.   i love that you like to play in your room!

now onto little brother's room...
samuel :)  you got your brothers old bedding.  but two years really isn't "old."   put a new sheet in and it looks new to me!  well, anything will look new to you.  i know, you won't even notice these things, but if you learn one thing about me it is that this mama likes to decorate and to make my babies feel special.   we had fun adding some new stuff for your room that your brother didn't have.

aunt dana and her kids came to help paint your room.  daddy helped make you a book shelf. gramps and granny helped make some vocabulary cards to put above your changing table.  i took the idea off of a rather expensive print at restoration hardware.  i figured we could do our own spin on it.  we were really excited with the way it turned out.

we loved hanging your initials in your room.

we also loved having a little corner to show off a little bit about your name.
a bible verse from the book of Samuel that we love, as well as a picture of Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen, your namesake.  we can't wait to put your little footprints below.

like i said, you probably will not notice your room that much, but i hope you know daddy and i wanted to make it special, both your room and jack's.

we love you boys
xxoo!
